|
A toponym is a name. A toponymy is a collection of official and accepted names, in this case
names of headlands, coves, cod berths, hills, underwater features, and
local neighbourhoods found on the Irish Loop.
| Details | ||
Besides being a reference work for toponyms, origins and other analyses, it is anticipated the toponymy will help us understand why we name things as we do; increase regional social and cultural links; strengthen the regional, shared identity; and, illuminate the region's history.
